Rooted in Aloha, Guided by Kōkua
Kōkua - the Hawaiian word for "giving"
In the lush, community-centered culture of Hawai‘i, few words carry as much warmth and meaning as kōkua. More than just a translation for “help” or “assistance,” kōkua is a deeply rooted value that reflects the spirit of selflessness, cooperation, and compassion.
Stemming from the Hawaiian value of selfless help and community care, at Kalani, kōkua guides how we serve our partners, support our team, and give back to the world around us.
We strive to make kōkua part of our daily rhythm—woven into how we think, work, and care for others. That means:
- A culture of care- that starts with our team and extends to our community
- Collaborative partnerships- built on trust and respect
- Doing the right thing, always- whether it’s choosing ethical suppliers, supporting our community, or standing by our word. Integrity isn’t just a value—it’s our standard.
At Kalani Packaging, we believe that kōkua should extend far beyond our walls. That’s why we proudly support these organizations, and many others that are making a real difference for people and the planet.
Kalani is putting our values into action by supporting these incredible nonprofits:
- World Central Kitchen: Founded by Chef José Andrés, WCK provides meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Their work embodies compassion in action—and we’re honored to help fuel their efforts.
- The Ocean Cleanup: Tackling plastic pollution head-on, this organization is developing advanced technologies to remove debris from oceans and rivers. We stand with their mission to restore our waterways for future generations.
One Tree Planted: For every dollar donated, a tree is planted. It’s that simple. We support this reforestation initiative to help combat climate change and restore ecosystems around the globe.
As we grow, so will our commitment to kōkua. We’ll continue inviting our Ohana to guide our giving, ensuring our support reflects the values and passions of the people who make our company what it is. To see where our Ohana chose to give back this year, Click Here.
